Public Speaking Nerves – How To Calm Them
So you’re on the brink of a whole new life as Mrs Love of your Life and you’ve been looking everywhere for bride speech ideas that will have your family and friends amazed and amused but your struggeling.
Yes I know – I was there too. Ladies making speeches at weddings are not so common and so there just isn’t much information out there, but here are a few tips for getting it right. One of the biggest problems that a lot of brides face is the anxiety of making a speech. Even though you really want to, when it comes down to the actual day of making it, the gravity of the whole event makes it all the more daunting.
Don’t be a bridezilla!
One of the best tips I can give you is to not get too wound up. I’ve watched Bridezilla and seen how mad those ladies become on their wedding day. I don’t know about you, but getting that freaked out can’t be fun, so the best plan is to stay as calm as you can. This is supposed to be the best day of your entire life and should be fun, not fret!
A good way to keep yourself calm is to look at the whole process rationally. All the people that are at your wedding were invited because you love them and they love you. You won’t have to worry about them thinking badly about you if you fumble a little in your speech. There is no more forgiving audience than those that love you, so stop worrying about making a mess.
A great way to get the nerves under control is to do some breathing exercises before you start, but if you are already in your speech when the nerves hit, then make sure that you are prepared and have some cue cards ready. If you loose your way, they can help you to get back on track.
When it comes to your bride speech, you’ll want it to be perfect, and being prepared is going to make that a lot easier.
