Wedding speeches can be dauting for anyone in the wedding party who has to stand up and speak. There are a few things you can learn from normal public speaking courses that will help you to deliver that perfect speach.
One of the best tips is to have your cue cards or your speach sheet with you at all times. The best way to structure your cue cards is not to write your entire speach out on them or you may find yourself just reading your speach, but rather to jot down just the beginning of each stage of your speach.
This will force you to look up from your sheet more often but will still keep you on track. Public speaking tips will help anyone, no matter how nervous you are.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Michelle. I’ve just got married and at our wedding I wanted to give The Perfect Bride Speech.
This is not as easy as you would think. My first problem was trying to figure out what I should say. Brides don’t generally speak at weddings, so there are no hard and fast rules. I didn’t want to get it wrong though, so I did a lot of research.
From knowing what to include to finding respectable jokes to use, my search was long and hard until my father asked for help with his speech. Father of the bride speeches are far more common and when I found a book with some great templates for him, I noticed they had a section about speeches for the blushing bride , so I got that too.
There were a whole lot of templates to use, tons of one liners and some fantastic jokes that really suited my rather conservative grandparents without being too boring. It also included some relaxation techniques and tips on how to ensure that your speech goes off without a hitch.
I landed up taking a lot of ideas from the book including using lyrics from a very famous song as the punchline of my joke. For our first dance, I asked the musicians to play that song which had everyone laughing again.
There were so many great ideas and quotes I could have used that I joked with my father that maybe I needed to renew my vows yearly in order to get through some of the other ideas that I liked.
By the way my dad’s speech was just brilliant and I’m so happy that I found this book.

I hope this has been helpful and maybe my chance find will help you to give your dream speech. From one blushing bride to another – Congratulations and I wish you all the happiness you can experience.
Getting married is a once in a lifetime experience – well at least for the fortunate few. Giving bride speeches has to be one of the most stressful experiences. I know it was for me. Standing in front of all my family and friends, wanting to add humor without sounding silly and wanting to sound confident and convincing when my little white stockinged feet were shaking in my little white shoes. Not an easy task.
Before I got married, I wanted our wedding vows to be personal and heartfelt, but I also wanted us both to have the opportunity to address our love for each other at the reception. It was my dream to be able to speak at my wedding, but when it came to writing my wedding speech, I had no idea where to start.
Spiking Your Speech With Humor!
I wanted to add some unique humor into my speech, but didn’t really know where to put it or how personal a blushing bride should be. Getting a clear idea of how to set out a speech to include everything without leaving anything in the wings was very helpful.
A funny bride speech is all about getting timing right. When you’re not a natural it helps to keep the speech feeling natural. Sometimes it helps to slow things down when your nervous, which gives you time to breath between sentences.
Remembering Not To Forget Anyone.
When under the spotlight, it is often difficult to remember everything you need to remember. Having your bridal speeches prewritten and getting in a rhythm will help to keep your mind focused on what you need to say and when. It also helps to keep the champagne to a minimum until the wedding toasts have been delivered. My bridesmaid also used got help with her bridesmaid speech and she did a great job too.
I think the most useful thing was to have example bride speeches to choose from. My dad had such a great selection of father of the bride speeches to chose from that he landed up with the best wedding toast of all. Having a funny wedding speech full of wedding speech jokes is one way to get a response, but a heartfelt toast to the bride and groom is always well received.
