IMG_5730garcia_tellezToasting the in-laws can be very difficult.  How to do it right will depend on how well you know them.

If you have a strong and long lasting relationship with them, it is easy to thank them for letting your into their lives and their home.  You could thank them for making you feel so welcome and such an integral part of their family.

If you happen to have a less idilic relationship with your in-laws or have not yet got to know them very well, you would be well served to thank them for raising such a wonderful man and having such a positive influence in making him the man you love.

Thanking the in-laws is very important and should be overlooked when saying your thank-you’s

Dutch courage is sometimes needed to calm the nerves a little, but you don’t want to get yourself into a state that you cannot deliver that perfect speach.

How much topple is enough and when is it too much is really about your personal ability to hold your liquor, but for a lot of ladies on their wedding day, keeping the alcohol to a minimum is the best plan.

Weddings are supposed to be fun, but weddings have such a wide range of ages when it comes to guests and you want everyone to enjoy themselves.

If dutch courage is required, limit it to just a quick drink and rather be prepared with other public speaking tips.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michelle. I’ve just got married and at our wedding I wanted to give The Perfect Bride Speech.

This is not as easy as you would think. My first problem was trying to figure out what I should say. Brides don’t generally speak at weddings, so there are no hard and fast rules. I didn’t want to get it wrong though, so I did a lot of research.

From knowing what to include to finding respectable jokes to use, my search was long and hard until my father asked for help with his speech. Father of the bride speeches are far more common and when I found a book with some great templates for him, I noticed they had a section about speeches for the blushing bride , so I got that too.

There were a whole lot of templates to use, tons of one liners and some fantastic jokes that really suited my rather conservative grandparents without being too boring. It also included some relaxation techniques and tips on how to ensure that your speech goes off without a hitch.

I landed up taking a lot of ideas from the book including using lyrics from a very famous song as the punchline of my joke. For our first dance, I asked the musicians to play that song which had everyone laughing again.

There were so many great ideas and quotes I could have used that I joked with my father that maybe I needed to renew my vows yearly in order to get through some of the other ideas that I liked.

By the way my dad’s speech was just brilliant and I’m so happy that I found this book.

I hope this has been helpful and maybe my chance find will help you to give your dream speech.  From one blushing bride to another – Congratulations and I wish you all the happiness you can experience.
